Growing mother of thousands (Kalanchoe daigremontiana) provides an attractive foliage houseplant. Though rarely blooming when kept indoors, the flowers of this plant are insignificant, with the most interesting feature being the baby plantlets continually appearing on the tips of the large leaves.

Bryophyllum daigremontianum, also known as Kalanchoe daigremontiana, or mother of thousands, is a succulent plant that is native to Madagascar. It requires minimal care and can tolerate dry conditions and high temperatures. Bryophyllum daigremnontainum grows from a single stem that is covered from top to bottom with large, blue-green leaves. The plantlets that grow on the edges of each leaf fall easily and root wherever they land. This plant’s ability to reproduce rapidly is where it gets its name. It is more ideal for container growing than landscape planting because it can be difficult to control in outdoor gardens.
